Our Vision
The RAqS Talent Development Program empowers artists to explore the rich culture of SWANA music while pushing boundaries in contemporary electronic and experimental forms. By fostering creative exploration, collaboration, and professional development, the program is dedicated to cultivating a progressive artistic community that celebrates cultural diversity and innovation.
What We Offer
Over the course of each residency, participants will benefit from:
- Workshops and Training: Tailored sessions led by renowned mentors, focusing on music production, stage design, and more.
- Artistic Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from experienced artists and professionals to develop and refine creative projects.
- Live Showcases: Opportunities to perform or exhibit their work in professional settings, supported by RAqS’s production team.
- Networking Opportunities: Engage with a diverse network of peers, industry professionals, and established artists.
- Studio Access: Equipped spaces with advanced recording equipment, instruments, and tools for creative experimentation.
Themes of Exploration
Our activities are structured around themes, including:
- The integration of microtonal music scales (Arabic maqam, Persian classics, and more) into electronic music.
- The evolution of tribal dance music in SWANA folk traditions and their modern interpretations.
- Electronic Tarab Music: Exploring sensory interaction and the ecstatic experience of Tarab through modern and traditional forms.
Who Can Apply?
We invite applications from emerging and independent talents between 18 and 28 years old, including:
- Music producers, DJs, and sound designers.
- Visual and installation artists.
- Dancers and performance artists.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in SWANA cultural influences, a commitment to artistic growth, and the ability to collaborate within a creative community.
